Nov 14 Minutes & Pres. Bernie's Message

Dear Calssmates,

Pls see attached minutes of our last week meeting held in Romer's residence.
The meeting was brief and focus our discussion to those activities that need an immediate action.
We already come-up with a computation of major expenses that we can have during the homecoming such as food, table & chairs, flowers to be used in chapel and stage, raffle prizes, give-aways, sound system. Some other expeses of upcoming activities like the motorcade and also video, streamers, party after the reunion, raffle for our classmates and additional food to be discussed on Sunday meeting.
Our total fund at present is Php 332,000.00 and still pushing pledges still to be collected. Hoping to have the updated list of donors on Sunday to facilitate.
We'll keep you posted for more developments...

Highlights of the Meeting:

• Taste Test of Food to be Serve during the affair

(four types of viands were serve by the caterer for the taste test, para sa panlasa ng mga selected jury “kuno”, okey naman daw po!. aprub naman Mr. Tayag…. Kaya pinalusot ka na ng mapanuring jury).

• Updating of funds and estimation of the total costing for the

expenses that may be incurred for the preparation of the affair

(Ms. Queng, Bong and Romer have already transferred the account from Mr. Canlas. Current account on the bank is at P308,000.00 except from the cash on hand which has been collected last Nov. 14)

10k has been forwarded to Ms. Liza Angeles for the downpayment of T-shirts. The sample texture and color of the t-shirts were already presented during the meeting.

The expenses for the food catering, stage and chapel decorations, t-shirts, give aways for teachers and the sound system will cover an estimated costing of P186,640. The cost for the raffle and other expenses shall be discussed next meeting to derived the estimated over-all costing for the affair.

• Drafted Program for the Affair designed by the Committee

on Programs

(The drafted Program for the Affair submitted by the Program Committee is already due for comment, pls. secure the copy via e-mail from Bernie).

• Scheduling of the proposed retreat and motorcade

(The tentative schedule of the motorcade is set on December 27. We will secure the copy of the complete route from Bhong this next meeting).

(The retreat is tentatively set on Dec. 19. But the group suggested that we will inquire first for the date of availability of Sister Josefina. It was also decided by the group to call for a General Assembly this November 22 (Sunday), 1 pm at Bhong Briones Farm to determine how many are really decided for the holding of the retreat to assure the attendance of the majority and to avoid the occurrence of any embarrassing situation for the batch).

• The drafted letter of invitation for the teachers and the sample sizes of T-shirts shall be presented next meeting by the concerned committees.

- Acknowledged we're doing okay on financial progress, need to continue momentum

Each person provided update on their area of responsibility. Generally, okay but identified Apalit as still lacking of active Point Person/s

Agreed to go ahead with the planned General Assembly

- Target Date: 9am-3pm, Sat. June 20, 2009
- Banong & Kheng to visit Sr.Josefina to get advise and book venue at ATHS
- Romer to speak to Manolito Tayag to be the resource speaker - explained about alumni homecoming, give inspiration and provide some direction
- Fr. Pete to provide spiritual guidance
- Snacks and lunch budgeted at 150pesos/head; expect around 35-50 classmates
- Agreed to have a meeting right after General Assembly to assign different Committees and appoint members to be responsible for different activities leading to the actual homecoming in Dec
- Final agenda to be finalized on next meeting

Continue to aggressively visit assigned area of responsibilities; each gave commitment on who to bring to our next meeting
Ogie shared his life - what he went thru, his family, how he ended up in Ireland. Very good story!

Here's a suggested agenda and activity for this coming Feb 22 meeting:

1. Kindly print this List of Donors (Pledges) and give to Kheng during the meeting on Sunday. I suggest you show it to all our classmates present so they get to see a clear picture of what's going on. That will highly motivate them to participate. Encourage everyone to give pledge and even start collecting cash if possible.

2. Please ensure to contact all Minalin B'84: Ronnie, Irene, Aliza, Julieta, Mary Jane, Abel, Melquiades, Emily, Jekrey, Rosa, Rosalinda, Evelyn, Rosalinda. Did I miss anyone?

3. Finalize all Point Persons - ideally 2 per area so there's better coordination and support.

4. Vote for some Advisers. Please include Bhok, Romer, Fr.Pete and anyone who you believe can be available and will actively participate. Include some girls too. The more the better. Later on, we will form committees to handle different activities and we expect these Advisers to play key roles.

5. Inform all Officers, Point Persons and Advisers the meeting I want to hold on Mar07 (Sat). Please agree on venue and time.

6. Get some update from Kheng on our financial status.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MEETING/SUGGESTIONS:

● to come up with a list of classmates from batch ’84 who can possibly share/pledge an amount for the batch fund raising in support of the expenses that will be incurred during the jubilee celebration;

● to have MS. AMY TAYAG as the coordinator for the solicitation of pledges from classmates who are based on other foreign countries;

● to come up with other strategies to raise funds support other than solicitation from batchmates (i.e solicitation from other town officials, etc.);

● Romer will have a personal visit to Among Peter Sitchon to convince him to attend the next meeting that will be set this February 2009. Specific date shall be determined based on the availability of Among Pete;

● Tentative Venue of Next Meeting: Abel Ocampo’s Residence at Sto. Domingo,

Minalin (still under coordination). (Second Option will be at Vic Intal’s Farm at Sta. Maria, if Abel will not accept the proposal);

● The current account of the batch shall be posted next meeting based on the treasurer’s report (sory po umuwi agad si Queng, may date kaya di ko nakuha…he he he).

Should you send money please let Kheng, Banong or myself know so we can track and inform you in return once the transfer is made. I have included SWIFT Code for those sending outside Phils to facilitate easier transaction.

Kheng will send regular update on our financial progress and other matters. To date we have about 14,000pesos in the account. Our aim is to have enough by June so we can start planning for our big event, our Jubillee celebration and homecoming!

Series of meetings were already undertaken and the last was on Dec. 30, 2oo8. Its gratifying to see people after alsmost 25 years while happily partaking in everyone's Baon, the usual school days luncheon period at ATHS.

Getting connected to everyone is one way of reviving and stengthening our Assumptans Spirit. Hope to hear words from you soon, a meaningful Hi and Hello, will serve best.

Megmiting na kami naman kanita. Ayne ing update:

• Meg-open neng account i Kheng and Banong (Leonardo)
• Around 20 kaming mig-attend (you will see in photos later on)

• Detang dinatang meg-pledge na la. So at least atin ta nang progress
• Next miting keng Jan 18. Kari Bernie Briones da gawan banta apasyalan da la ngan deng taga-San Pedro.
• Meg-assign mu rin point person balang baryu.
• Some suggestions: mag-retreat tamu twice banta alicup tala kreng klasmeyts. Last retreat will be towards the reunion itself, around 2nd or 3rd week of Dec. Kanita expected na mipunta ta ngan.
• Apagkayari na kailangan tamung mag-raise minimum 400,000pesos. Medyu maragul kasi balak at least 150,000 ing i-donate tamu ATHS (minmum expected is 100,000 and B83 gave 250,000). Plus ing expenditures around 200,000 (including food, sound sysytem, decorations, invitations, raffle prizes, etc). Simpli mu ing balak pero memorable and maayus.

We have a lot to accomplish as expected. Let's hope that we can take part one way or another in making our Silver Jubilee both a success and a memorable one!

It's been 25 years since our 'memorable' high school graduation. Dacal kekatamu malaut na la 'physically' from our beloved Assumpta. But it does not mean that we forget where we came from.

Atin ta nang sari-sariling bie ngeni but come December 2009, we will 'hopefully' come together again one more time when we host the ATHS 2009 Alumni Homecoming. Dacal tamu kailangan gawan to make this homecoming a success but 'WE CAN DO IT'! Ali mo?
